My rant for today:
Girls who pretend to be stupid because "boys don't like smart girls"
Well, this has been a rant for most of my life, but its getting worse by the day.
Today there were auditions for the improv comedy troupe that Willie is in. There is a girl that auditions, and who was cast, that is possibly the least talented actress I have ever seen. I have done several shows with her, and has very little talent.
Up until her last show, she has only had one character. Not that she's been type cast, but thats all she does. Someone that can't come up with more than one character in five plays can't be fast enough mentally to be successful in improv comedy.
As for the pretending to be stupid part. The one character that she had used for all of the shows except that last have been the same character she plays for boys. The stupid useless blonde.
So, logically, if she's smart enough to be in improv and a boy that she likes goes to the show, she would have to pretend to suck at improv to impress him. Which would make her a bad casting choice. The director should have known better, since it took her until tech week to get a handle on her character... who is just an angry activist, and a role that I would have been perfect for... since its my type casting...... but you can't get a role if you don't audition for it, and I'm still not an actor.
I digress.
I'll admit to being friends with her ex-boyfriend. She did some psychotic things while they were dating, and because she was cute, he put up with it for a while. He is no longer willing to speak with her. He is also a talented actor. I wish that he would have auditioned, because he would have blown her out of the water, but he isn't staying in this horrible city anymore (more power to him) He guessed that she would be cast... but is in agreement with me that she'll be horrible.
I've declared that I will not be going to anymore Laughing Matters shows, which is the improv troupe. I probably pissed Willie off by saying that, because he thought this girl did a wonderful audition.... and I had another friend get cast that I think is really funny.
I think what probably bothers me most about this is how attatched Will gets to the members of the troupe. I Really don't want her to be any more of a part of my life than she already is and he'll expect me to come out and hang out with all of them, and I just don't want to.
She's in the cast of the musical he's in now, and I HATE having to see her all the time now. With her being in LM, there will be no escape from her.
