I dislike my new job.
I am now very apreciative of higher learning, or more to the point, the capacity to learn higher activities. I actually never realized that there were people in the world that have problems following a chain instructions repetitively. I'm completely bored out of my mind at the absolute lack of thought needed to complete my job. While I don't believe trained monkeys could do it, and I wouldn't be able to do it for much longer than I'm going to, these people seem to be lacking most of the major mental processes needed to sustain a normal carreer.
There are obviously exceptions, as I'm in there (not really supposed to sound as condescending as it does) and there are others, but anyone over the age of 25 in there has no options but assembly line production. The rest of us were unlucky enough to think that we were going to be doing computer work .

I got to do something completely different tonight.
I used to go to Laughing Matters, and improv comedy troupe in Topeka about once every two months, or every other performance. I haven't been to see them since August or so, since one of the members of the troupe and I ceased dating. It really wasn't the breakup that made me stop going, it was the fact that if you watch them too much they get really old. I'm thinking I should go back for their show in May.
However, tonight, I was part of that company's sister company. Senior Class. Their normal technician was having some problems at work so she couldn't be there for the show tonight. They asked me to fill in. Its still improv, but all of the actors are over the age of 50.
Now keep in mind that they are not professionals, by any means. And a few of them have Really short memories. But it still wasn't the worst thing I've ever been a part of. They were really nice, and while not always funny, they at least tried. And weren't afraid to push the envelope.
I looked at the audience, and most of it was made up of people over the age of 50, three exceptions being the artistic director of TCT and his wife and a random little girl, who I think was there with her grandfather, and they came up with more interesting topics than the drunks that go to Laughing Matters.

The cast even asked me to go out to Applebees with them after the show. I declined, but not because they were all old, but because I'm shy and they are a pretty tight group.
